Primarily based in Trinidad and Tobago, this chapter focuses on promoting industry best practices and advancing the profession within the Caribbean by hosting workshops and training sessions, such as preparation courses for the internationally recognized Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. He currently serves as Executive Chairman of the SMRP Trinidad Chapter, leading efforts to promote maintenance and reliability best practices across the region. A passionate advocate for safety awareness, he regularly engages industry professionals and communities through forums and public discussions. Holding certifications including CLS, OMA, CRE, PE, and CMRP, Kuarlal's leadership and technical expertise continues to shape the reliability engineering landscape in the Caribbean and beyond.

Shriya Kelisa Rampersad
Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional
Shriya Kelisa Rampersad is a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) with expertise in organizational change management and strategic transformation. She holds a BSc in International Relations from the University of the West Indies and an MBA in Oil and Gas Management from the University of Bedfordshire, UK.
Shriya has led initiatives across high-risk sectors such as oil and gas, aligning people, processes, and systems with business strategy to build proactive, performance-driven cultures. As a certified instructor with the Society for Maintenance & Reliability Professionals (SMRP) Trinidad Chapter, she delivers competency-based training that integrates ISO Standards and the SMRP Pillars, empowering teams to adopt best practices and achieve measurable outcomes.

Haffiz Yathali
Mechanical Engineer, Rotating Equipment Specialist
Haffiz Yathali is a mechanical engineer and vibration specialist with 30 years of experience across the oil and gas, petrochemical, and manufacturing industries. He began his career in 1996 with bptt and Amoco Trinidad Oil Company, later earning a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (First Class Honours) from The University of the West Indies.
Founder of YATZ Engineering Limited, Haffiz provides diagnostics and training in predictive technologies such as vibration analysis and motor circuit evaluation. He has lectured at the University of Trinidad and Tobago and is a certified instructor with UTT, PDMA Corporation, and SMRP, recognized for advancing reliability and maintenance practices across industries.

Shelly Colai
Educator, Youth Mentor, Consultant
Shelly Colai is an educator, consultant, and youth mentor with over 25 years of experience. Founder of The Colai Consultancy Group, she designs and facilitates transformative workshops that build collaboration, growth, and real-world skills.
She holds an MBA and a BA (Hons) in Human Resources Management, and is pursuing her PhD in Education at the University of Trinidad and Tobago. A certified life skills coach and lecturer at the School of Accounting and Management, Shelly blends academic expertise with mentorship, guiding students and professionals through leadership, career, and personal growth.

Larry Ghanny

Larry Ghanny is an accomplished energy-sector executive with over 25 years of experience in operations, maintenance, construction, and leadership across offshore platforms, onshore facilities, terminal operations, and global maintenance networks. Beginning his career at age 19, he advanced through various portfolios, and has spent the past two decades with bp Trinidad & Tobago, shaping culture, capability, and performance.
He has held several high-impact roles, including ten years in Operations, and currently serves as Regional Campaigns & Modifications Team Leader, overseeing multimillion-dollar portfolios across offshore and onshore assets. Larry also contributes globally as a Lead Facilitator in the BP Global Maintenance & Reliability Network and is a certified training instructor with the SMRP Trinidad Chapter, delivering industry-focused programs in maintenance and reliability.
A member of the BP Global Advancing Leadership Program, Larry is recognized for his transformational leadership and organizational impact. Known for his people-first approach, he inspires confidence, empowers teams, and mentors the next generation of energy professionals.

Selwyn Trim
Maintenance & Reliability Professional, Educator
Selwyn Trim is a distinguished Maintenance and Reliability Professional with over 40 years of experience in the petrochemical, energy, and manufacturing sectors. His career spans the full asset lifecycle—from construction and commissioning to operations, reliability engineering, maintenance, and asset management—covering disciplines such as electrical, instrumentation, controls, telecommunications, mechanical, marine, and operations.
He holds an MSc in Safety and Risk Management from Heriot-Watt University and professional credentials including CRE, CQE, CMQ/OE, PMP, and CMRP. A Certified Assessor with the National Training Agency of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Trim is also an accomplished lecturer who integrates decades of industry expertise into academic and professional development programs.

Sieunarine Ramkumarsingh
General Manager of Plant Operations
Sieunarine Ramkumarsingh is the General Manager of Plant Operations at Caribbean Gas Chemical Limited (CGCL) in Trinidad, with over 20 years of leadership and technical expertise in the energy sector. A Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) and Certified Asset Management Assessor (CAMA), he is recognized for advancing maintenance, reliability, and asset management excellence.
He has contributed to the construction, commissioning, and operation of eight process plants, including ammonia, methanol, DME, urea, utilities, melamine, and UAN facilities, while establishing preventive maintenance programs that ensure safety, reliability, and efficiency. Holding a BSc from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, and a Certified Training Instructor with the SMRP Caribbean Chapter, Sieunarine is known for aligning maintenance strategies with organizational goals, mentoring teams, and driving continuous improvement across the Caribbean energy sector.

Navin Dass
Technical Vocational Educator
Navin Dass is a seasoned technical vocational educator and industrial maintenance professional with over 25 years of experience in mechanical engineering, heavy equipment, and automotive services. He currently serves as a Technical Vocational Teacher at Malick Secondary School, specializing in Machine Shop, Metal Work, and Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET). Previously, he trained students at the National Energy Skills Center (NESC) in industrial mechanical maintenance and rig mechanics, bridging classroom instruction with real-world industry demands.
Throughout his career, Navin has built extensive expertise in industrial safety, precision measurement, and machine shop operations. He is highly skilled in maintaining and troubleshooting rotating and non-rotating equipment, as well as advanced shaft alignment and vibration analysis techniques. Sheldon Ramsook is an accomplished Engineering and Maintenance Leader with 24 years of experience in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical sectors, delivering results across Brownfield, Greenfield, Offshore, and Onshore operations. He has led major engineering, maintenance, and turnaround strategies that drive safety, asset integrity, reliability, and life-extension initiatives, while managing multimillion-dollar projects.
Known for transforming challenges into opportunities, Sheldon applies industry best practices to maximize asset availability, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. He holds professional certifications as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Functional Safety Engineer (FS Engineer), and is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), reflecting his commitment to technical excellence and professional growth.

Rushton Paray
Chief Executive Officer, Paray Group
Rushton Paray is an SMRP Trainer with over 30 years of experience in ICT and digital business, alongside 10 years of national service in Parliament.
His career spans enterprise technology from legacy systems and data centres to cloud platforms, cybersecurity, automation, and AI enabled operations. He is the founder and CEO of a 30 year ICT services company that delivers mission critical systems across energy, manufacturing, public sector, healthcare, retail, and logistics environments. His work focuses on reliability, systems integration, governance, and technology that must perform under operational pressure.
Rushton served 10 years in the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago, contributing to policy and debate on trade and industry, finance and the economy, digital transformation, energy, and public sector reform. That experience shaped his approach to leadership, accountability, risk, and decision making at scale.
As a lecturer, he teaches business, leadership, and AI with a strong practical focus. His sessions link technology to operational reliability, maintenance maturity, cost control, and organisational performance. As an SMRP Trainer, he brings a boardroom and shop floor perspective, grounded in what works in real organisations.

Anthony Alexander
Mechanical Engineer
Anthony Alexander is a seasoned Mechanical Engineer and Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) with over 50 years of technical and leadership experience across the oil and gas, airline, propulsion, mobile machinery, maritime, and fluid power industries. He holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and has built a distinguished career improving machinery reliability, optimizing maintenance strategies, and enhancing the performance and safety of complex mechanical systems in high‑risk industrial sectors.
In addition to his extensive industry practice, Anthony serves as a Senior Lecturer, where he bridges real‑world engineering expertise with academic instruction. He develops and delivers advanced courses in mechanical systems, reliability engineering, fluid power, asset management, and propulsion engineering—mentoring and shaping the next generation of engineering professionals.
